Family Promise of Las Vegas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping at-risk families with children achieve secure housing, financial stability, and long-term independence. Through a compassionate, community-driven response, Family Promise works to break the cycle of homelessness by providing both temporary and long-term housing solutions in partnership with apartment complexes, landlords, motels, and hundreds of service providers and stakeholders across Southern Nevada. For the past 29 years, Family Promise of Las Vegas has helped thousands of families with children transition from homelessness to safe, stable, and dignified housing. 70% of the families served achieve sustainable housing.
We’re proud of our history as a grassroots organization. In our early years, local congregations of many faiths opened their gymnasiums to provide shelter, meals, and supervision—offering hospitality with dignity to families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Today, Family Promise of Las Vegas serves families in crisis through housing support, employment services, and wraparound case management. Our top priority is to ensure families stay together, even as they face difficult transitions.
Some of the key programs that help achieve the high success rate include:
Each family (67% of the people we serve are children) receives a personalized plan with goals tailored to their specific needs. This individualized, trauma-informed approach allows us to help families break the cycle of homelessness and rebuild their futures with dignity.
In the last year alone, Family Promise of Las Vegas served 788 families, totaling more than 2,400 individuals, with comprehensive services to help them regain independence. 91% of these families achieved their goal of transitioning into stable housing!
Our case management team helped Jasmine access emergency shelter through our Motel Program, while also providing financial coaching, employment support, and parenting resources. Within weeks, she had saved enough for a security deposit and secured a new apartment through one of our housing partners.
Family Promise covered her first month’s rent, and Jasmine entered our aftercare program to ensure continued support as she settled into her new home.
Now Jasmine is thriving at her job, and her boys are back in school with routines and a sense of security.
“Family Promise didn’t just give us shelter—they gave us hope and the chance to breathe again.”
They entered our Motel Shelter Program, where our team helped David enroll in a job training course and connected Kayla with flexible part-time work. Their children were supported through our family enrichment services, and together, they built a customized plan to regain stability.
Within 90 days, David had secured full-time employment, and the family moved into permanent housing with support from our relocation assistance.
“Family Promise helped us put the pieces of our family back together.”
