From the inside–out the building shown here is being renovated so Family Promise has a new Day Site. The Day Site is not only our office but a place where families can start their day as they receive counseling, look for jobs and let their children play in a safe and home-like environment.
We're glad you asked! In May of this year, the City Council met to discuss a zoning issue that popped up when Family Promise went in to renew their business license. After much debate, the city determined that Family Promise could not operate out of their facility (on west Van Buren) and had
to find a new home. Mayor Oscar Goodman, citing Family Promise's many great contributions to the city of Las Vegas, vowed to find a new home before the end of the year. True to his word, the new location was found and secured; a new license was issued and a new journey began for Family Promise.
Family Promise's new Day Site is located at 320 South 9th Street.
Family Promise had to end its operations from the "old" building on the 17th of November. Aided with the help of the community's faith houses, they will remain in operation until the building can be occupied. Families will continue to be helped; Family Promise lives on! No exact move-in date has been scheduled as construction must be completed in specific areas of the house before that is possible.
There are a lot of pictures, so please feel free to visit these pages often. This is the launch-point for a photographic chronicle of events and the new Day Site's emergence.
